Faithway Baptist Purpose Statement
“To glorify God, live out the Gospel, and help people on their Faithway journey.”
I. To Glorify God
A. Our Purpose: Bringing Glory to God in All Things
• “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31
• “Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.” – Isaiah 43:7
B. Worshiping God in Spirit and Truth
• “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” – John 4:23-24
• “Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.” – Psalm 96:3-4
C. Living Holy Lives that Reflect His Glory
• “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”– Matthew 5:16
• “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” – Romans 12:1-2
II. To Live Out the Gospel
A. Transformed by the Gospel
• “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
• “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” – Romans 1:16
B. Walking in Christ’s Example
• “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” – 1 John 2:6
• “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.” – Philippians 1:27
C. Bearing Fruit Through the Gospel
• “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.” – Colossians 1:10
• “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23
III. To Help People on Their Faithway Journey
A. Making Disciples and Encouraging Growth
• “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” – Matthew 28:19-20
• “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.” – Colossians 1:28
B. Supporting One Another in Love and Community
• “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”– Hebrews 10:24-25
• “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers…Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”– Acts 2:42, 47
C. Leading Others Toward Christ and Spiritual Maturity
• “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” – Ephesians 4:11-13
• “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” – 2 Timothy 2:2
