JESUS
Learn who He is, why He loves you, and how He can transform your life.
Jesus once asked His disciples the question every one of us has to answer: "But whom say ye that I am?" (Mark 8:29). God's Word shows us who Jesus is, and why knowing Him personally matters more than anything else.
WHY JESUS?
To begin, there are four things God wants you to know.
God sent Jesus to show you who He is. But first, He wants you to understand a few things about yourself.
First
You are loved by God.
God loves you, no matter your background, your past, or where you are right now. He doesn't just want you to know about Him. He wants a personal relationship with you.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16 (KJV)
Second
Everyone is a sinner.
Nobody is perfect. We have all broken God's commandments, and the Bible calls that sin. That includes all of us, and our sin separates us from God.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
"Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear."
Isaiah 59:1-2 (KJV)
Third
Sin has a price.
The payment for sin is death. That means more than physical death. It means being separated from God forever in a place the Bible calls hell. But notice the second half of this verse: God offers a gift.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
Finally
Jesus paid that price for you.
Jesus died on the cross, not for His own sins, because He had none, but for the sins of the whole world. Then He rose from the grave, proving He has power over death. If you will trust Him, He can and will save you, today.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Romans 10:13 (KJV)
TRUST JESUS
If you would like to begin a relationship with Jesus, you can, right where you are.
Step 1
Repent and trust Jesus.
To repent means to turn from your sin and turn to God. Salvation isn't something you earn by being good enough. It's a free gift you receive by trusting Jesus Christ alone to save you.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
Step 2
Pray something like this.
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I ask You now to forgive me of all my sins. I believe You died on the cross for me and rose again. I trust You alone to save me. Please come into my heart and be my Saviour. Change my life, and take me to Heaven when I die. In Jesus' name, Amen.
The exact words don't matter. A prayer is simply how you tell God you are trusting Jesus to save you. God knows your heart.
Step 3
Follow Jesus.
If you just trusted Jesus as your Saviour, welcome to the family of God! The Bible says you can know for sure that you have eternal life.
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
1 John 5:13 (KJV)
Here are some great first steps: let us know so we can pray for you and help you get started, come to church this Sunday, start reading your Bible (the Gospel of John is a great place to begin), and talk with us about being baptized.
